Algorithm Update Remains Unconfirmed Despite Several Days of Fluctuations
Knock knock. Who’s there? Not Google, that’s for sure. All jokes aside, as chatter and rankings continue to fluctuate like crazy for the fifth straight day, Google has remained completely radio silent, neither confirming nor denying that anything is out of sorts.
Some are reporting massive spikes in rankings, some are seeing massive drops, and others are noticing a yo-yo effect. Overall, things appear to be all over the place.
Were you affected by the Feb 7 unnamed update? If so, can you comment including your niche/vertical?

What the Ranking Tools Are Saying
Since the buzz began last week, rank checking tools have also continued to report off the charts ranking fluctuations, with no sign of slowing down.
Typically, when such fluctuations are reported without any attribution, it’s only natural to assume that a Google algorithm update is to blame and that we can expect an announcement from the search engine soon. But this time, no such luck.
In an unusual move, Google has remained tight lipped about the situation, not even offering up an obligatory “No comment,” despite being hounded for confirmation from the SEO community.
It’s important to note that experiencing these types of levels for such a long period of time without confirmation from Google is highly abnormal, even for core updates like the one that was rolled out in January.
With that being said, let’s take a look at what’s being reported up to today (February 12th):
Rank fluctuations are only getting higher during this current Google algorithm update.

So, what now? Without any confirmation from Google, it’s hard to tell what exactly is going on, but it’s pretty fair to say that an update is in fact rolling out and it’s BIG.
That’s all we’ve got for now, but there’s bound to be more coming our way. So, until then, stay tuned folks, we’re in for a bumpy ride.
