Bing Aims to Make Webmaster Tools Portal Faster, Cleaner, and More Responsive
In an effort to create a faster, cleaner, more responsive and actionable toolset for SEOs and webmasters, Bing will soon be rolling out a new and improved set of Webmaster Tools.
Bing made the big announcement at the SEO conference SMX West this week, stating that first iteration of the new and improved Bing Webmaster Tools portal, which is being released the first week of March, will include three new key features. This includes:
- Backlinks. A new backlinks report has been added to the portal and includes the existing inbound links report which has been integrated with the disavow links tool.
- Search Performance. Page traffic and search keywords reports have been merged together and are now included in a new search performance report.
- Sitemaps. The sitemaps page has been refreshed and given a makeover for a newer, more modern look.
“We are delighted to announce the first iteration of the refreshed Bing Webmaster Tools portal. We are releasing the new portal to a select set of users this week and will be rolling out to all users by the 1st week of March,” said Bing.
Here’s what the new portal will look like:

Interested in checking it out? To access the portal, all you’ll need to do is sign-in to Bing Webmaster Tools and navigate to Sitemaps, Inbound Links, Page Traffic or Search Keywords reports and click on the links to open the new portal. It’s as easy as that.
After the launch of these new tools next month, Bing will spend the next few months moving all the functionality to the new portal.
During this transition period, you’ll be able to continue using both the old and new pages simultaneously. However, this will be short-lived, as Bing plans to scrap the functionality of the old portal within just few weeks after the new portal has launched. So, if you’re the sentimental type, start saying your goodbyes soon before the old portal is gone for good.
